The Tresilian Family of County Cork - Landowners and Bandon Merchants
The Tresilian Family of County Cork is our first publication which is now available at Amazon. The family came to County Cork from Cornwall in the early 1600s. Our study focuses on how they were affected by the economic developments of the time, how they integrated into the community, amassing considerable land holdings and building up successful businesses only for many of the family members to see their wealth evaporate by the mid 1800s. They had all disappeared from Bandon and the surrounding area by the time of the 1901 census. The Tresilians married into similar Bandon merchant families such as Popham, Sullivan, Allman, Coughlan, Belcher, Bernard, Seymour, Jagoe and Jenkins.
